During his 15 years as Liverpool manager, Bill Shankly brought 36 new players to the club – but which of those signings were the most successful for both the Scot and the team?
As part of our week-long coverage dedicated to marking the 100th anniversary of Shankly's birth, we will be producing three of our Kop 10 features to reflect on his greatest signings, most memorable matches and his unforgettable quotes.
To kick things off, an LFC TV panel came together for the unenviable challenge of producing a list of what we consider to be his 10 finest signings between 1959 and 1974.
We based the decision on a number of variables: the cost of the transfer; length of service for the club; trophies won at Anfield; level of performance and consistency.
Naturally, we expect supporters to have their own personal favourites and preferences. If you disagree with the order of our list or think we have missed anybody out, let us know in the comments box at the bottom of each page or tweet using the hashtag #Shankly100.
