Newcastle face a battle to sign Derby County teenager Will Hughes, as Liverpool are said to be leading the race for his signature.
The 18-year-old has been linked to a number of clubs, including Newcastle, and the Rams will struggle to keep hold when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Hughes looked as though he would join Liverpool in the summer but, despite talks between the two sides, no fee was agreed and the door is still open for the Magpies.
However, reports claim Liverpool are ready to make a £6million offer for the player, which could rise depending on his progression at the top of the game.
Manchester United and Manchester City are also being linked with the starlet and Derby will be hoping all the interest will hike up the price.
