Liverpool are on the lookout for another keeper to challenge Simon Mignolet and will bid for Swansea keeper Michel Vorm.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed his intention to sign players this summer that would increase competition for the goalkeeper position and add depth to his squad with "two or three" new faces further forward.

Mignolet is established as Rodgers' first-choice after a fine debut season at Anfield but, with only Brad Jones for first-team cover, the Northern Irishman is keen to fill out his ranks.

And he will attempt to lure Dutch international Vorm from Swansea after settling on the 30-year-old who he previously worked with at the Liberty Stadium as his preference over talented Nottingham Forest keeper Karl Darlow.

Vorm played 37 Premier League matches under the Liverpool boss in Swansea's first season back in the top-flight and kept a clean sheet against the Reds in Rodgers' last game in charge before taking over at Anfield.

Rodgers told BT Sport: "We've only got two goalkeepers. We need another goalkeeper. We'll look to bring in two or three more at the top end of the field as well.

"We're after players that are hungry, that have ambition to become better players. We need technical players that can play in a fast game and we need technical intelligence."

Asked if he was referring to younger signings, Rodgers replied: "No, that means good players and you can be a good player at whatever age - 32, 33 - but, of course, I like the hunger of a young player, I like the fearlessness of a young player.

"It's about balance. You need the senior players around them to help them flourish and grow."
