Southampton defender Dejan Lovren is set to undergo a medical with Liverpool before completing a £20million move.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been chasing the defender throughout the summer, as he attempts to plug a leaky defence that cost his side points last season, and is said to be closing in on his man.

The Croatian centre-half impressed for Saints last season and looks set to become the latest player to leave St Mary's after reports claimed the two clubs had agreed a fee.

The 24-year-old is tipped to have a medical over the weekend and is then expected to join former Saints teammates Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana at Anfield.

Southampton paid Lyon £8.5m for Lovren 12 months ago and cannot turn down such a huge profit on the player.
