Express: Liverpool on Bertrand alert

Liverpool are battling to resurrect an £8million deal for Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand.
The Reds have been chasing a left-back all summer but have so far come up short, failing to land Swansea's Ben Davies, who is joining Tottenham, and frustrated by Sevilla's £20m demands for Alberto Moreno.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been a long-term admirer of Bertrand, 24, and will now look to bring him to Anfield if they can agree a fee with Chelsea.
The two clubs were in discussions during the January transfer window when a price was set, but since then the Reds finished above Chelsea in the Premier League. Blues boss Jose Mourinho now sees Liverpool as a real threat and wants more money before they hand over their player.
Kop officials are refusing to budge on their valuation of the player - believed to be around £8m - and that is why they have chased other targets this summer. But since those have not materialised, Rodgers will go back for Bertrand.
The talented left-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, is believed to be keen on a move to Anfield.
