Liverpool are looking to put the Loic Remy medical behind them and instead make a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Ezequiel Lavezzi, Metro reports.
The club decided to not continue negotiations as they try to lure the Argentine star from PSG for a cut-price deal.
The Ligue-1 club are said to be needing to offload a few players in order to balance their books in accordance with the Financial Fair Play sanctioned upon them as well as free up funds for a potential Angel Di Maria bid.
They could offer him up for only £18million, despite the fact that Laurent Blanc signed him only two years ago from Napoli for £24million.
Brendan Rodgers still has funds available from the huge sale of Luis Suarez and sees the 29-year-old as the perfect candidate to keep them battling for the title.
Lavezzi made 32 appearances for the French club the previous season, scoring nine goals and was part of the Argentina squad that lost to Germany in the World Cup finals.
