Liverpool are closing in on the signing of two Spanish defenders as Brendan Rodgers prepares to smash the £100m barrier with the latest additions to his summer spending spree set to be unveiled as Liverpool players in the next few days.
After seeing a move for Seville left-back Alberto Moreno fall through earlier in the summer, reports claim that the Reds have resurrected the transfer after making an offer of £20m for the 22-year-old.
Moreno will add significant competition for the left-back position, which will also allow young English defender John Flanagan return to his favoured right-flank.
And Moreno could quickly be followed by Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo, who appears to be close to a season-long loan at Anfield.
The highly-rated 20-year-old had been linked with Premier League side Arsenal earlier this year, but Liverpool will secure the deal that will include a £6m permanent signing clause in the coming days.
