Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interest in Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand.
Brendan Rodgers is thought to be in the market for a new face to help shore up his side's back-line, with the Liverpool boss reported to be eyeing a move for Bertrand, who he worked with during his time at Stamford Bridge.
But the Merseyside club are believed to have called off their pursuit of the 23-year-old, who only signed a new five-year deal with the Blues less than 12 months ago, after hearing the left-back would demand nearly double the weekly wage he's on at Stamford Bridge.
Bertrand is said to be receiving around £35,000-a-week at the moment, but advisors warned Liverpool he would request £60,000 should they make an approach to take him to Anfield.
The Team GB Olympian is currently playing understudy to Ashley Cole at Chelsea, and with his senior partner having signed a new one-year deal in January, Bertrand is likely to have to wait a little longer to break into Jose Mourinho's side on a regular basis.
