Liverpool want to sign Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his attacking options.
Rodgers is desperate to add another versatile wideman to his squad before the transfer window shuts next month, but he has already missed out on deals for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Xherdan Shaqiri.
However, Liverpool are increasingly hopeful of finally filling the void after identifying Magpies ace Ben Arfa as an attainable target.
According to reports in France, Liverpool are ready to approach Newcastle this week and make a £6million offer for the 26-year-old in the hope of doing business.
Ben Arfa is said to be unsettled on Tyneside so would consider the move, despite Alan Pardew stating last week that none of his star names would be sold.
But with the World Cup just around the corner, Ben Arfa will want to put himself in the shop window for France coach Didier Deschamps so could force a transfer to Anfield.
Liverpool are likely to be willing to go to at least £8million to get the player.
