Dejan Lovren will complete his switch to Anfield this weekend after Liverpool finally agreed a £20million deal with Southampton.
Southampton have accepted Liverpool's £16million bid, rising to £20million with add-ons, after weeks of negotiations to make Lovren the Reds' most expensive defender.
The Croatian World Cup centre-half is expected on Merseyside tomorrow to undergo his medical and agree terms.
Lovren is not expected to fly out to the US to join his new teammates, who are halfway through their American tour.
Lovren's arrival will mean Liverpool will have paid Southampton a total of £47.6million this summer after also signing Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.
Brendan Rodgers has been chasing Lovren all summer and feels he can be the defensive linchpin Liverpool need to shore up their leaky defence.
Liverpool should also wrap up Loic Remy's £8.5million signing over the weekend and the French striker has passed his medical after joining up with the Reds in Boston.
Confirmation of his transfer has been held up by paperwork, but Liverpool do not expect it to delay the deal much longer.
