Liverpool added physiotherapist Ruben Pons to their Melwood backroom team in the summer of 2014.

The Benicassim-born Spaniard joined the club's first-team medical staff and brought with him several years' experience of working with Premier League and La Liga clubs.

Having previously worked at the University of Valencia, as well as in Barcelona and Madrid, Pons joined the backroom team of Villarreal in 2005 alongside Manuel Pellegrini.

He departed El Madrigal in 2010 and began working with individual players at several clubs including Valencia, Newcastle and Swansea.

"This is one of the biggest clubs in the world.I feel privileged and proud to work for such a big club," Pons said after arriving at Melwood.

"For any physio, working for Liverpool FC is a big challenge but here you have the best facilities, players and colleagues to work with. You have all you need do your best."
