Liverpool are reportedly in the driving seat to land Roberto Soldado from Valencia in a £25million deal.
Soldado has been linked with a move to the Premier League for much of the summer, with Spurs thought to be the frontrunners to sign him amid earlier interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.
Tottenham have had one bid, in the region of £18million, rejected for the Spain international and are being tipped to increase it in the hope they can lure the Valencia man to White Hart Lane.
However, the Spanish club apparently want £25million for him and that could price Tottenham out of a deal - with the Reds ready to splash that amount to secure the 28-year-old's services.
