Former chairman of Liverpool FC Martin Broughton has formally received his knighthood.
The current British Airways chairman was knighted for his services to business by the Queen at Windsor Castle yesterday.
Sir Martin oversaw the £300m sale of the Reds last year and the departure of then owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Sir Martin said receiving the award was "a great honour".
He added: "You don't ever think you're going to be awarded a knighthood. You start off with completely different expectations.
"The Queen spoke to me about the gloomy economic conditions and I told her I was optimistic, that things are heading down the right track."
